![]() Q1: First of all, could you tell a little about yourself? *You can check Geng Hui’s recent works here: *This is the first part of the interview and originally made in the end of year 2018.The interview was made in English via email by me (Terrie Hashimoto). However, I couldn’t find his information at all both English nor Chinese other than he was born in 1980s and has a day job. The numbers of the stories he translated is over a hundred. Yoachim, Tom Crosshill and Matthew Kressel to the latest stories by emerging writers just published in the venues like Clarkesworld, Tor.com and Lightspeed magazine. His choices have a wide variety: from Hugo and Nebula Awards winning/nominated stories by authors including Carolin M. But I think what’s really surprising is that he has translated new stories by new writers timely. He has translated science fiction stories written by some highly acclaimed authors like Ken Liu and Ted Chiang. ![]() Wild to think that this all started because I was vaguely grumpy that Sniper got all of the werewolf fics and art when it was Demo who had the in-game wolfman cosmetic, lol.ītw if anyone’s curious, afaic the official theme song of Monstrous Intent is absolutely “Fooled Around And Fell In Love” by Elvin Bishop and I am forever grateful to for putting that into my brain.I found English to Chinese translator Geng Hui(耿辉) while wandering to look for science fiction news or new interesting science fiction stories. Especially when my medication stole like five or six years of my creative life from me. Thank y’all again for sticking with me and letting me play in this space and make something I truly love with all my heart. Nothing more than like a line or two, though. I’ll probably update a few fics for continuity over time, but I’ll make mention for those if it’s big enough. There’s a bunch of amazing art of the AU there and some of it even escaped the purge ifyougetwhatImean so just like all of MI, it’s 18+.Īnd on Ao3, I have the definitive versions of my MI fics, which I am slowly updating to fix a few of the weird formatting issues that copy/pasting stuff from LibreOffice into a browser causes for whatever reason. Ever wonder why I never wrote Medic learning to fly? did a better job than I ever could have, and it is canon, and linked there, along with other stories, canon but vague about timeline, by and an AU of the AU by case you don’t know, Monstrous Intent has a dedicated sideblog, over at where I reblog my fics, the fics others have written set in the universe, art people have done based on it, art that just kinda fits the vibe, shitposts of a similar nature, my own headcanons (are they just canons since it’s my AU? we need a better word for that) about the characters and setting and stuff, and other such sundry things. Here on Tumblr, my writing blog, has a page dedicated to collecting Monstrous Intent, including works others have written for it, their canon status, and where they fit into the timeline if applicable. I do have an ending in mind, and while it’s a while away yet, I fully intend to get there or die trying lol. ![]() <3 I love writing MI and look forward to writing more. I’m really proud of this AU/series/thing and all the joy it’s brought people and the creativity it’s sparked in them over the years. But I will post some links here, in case folks who follow me haven’t read it, or want to catch up, etc. I wish I could have planned some kind of big fic to come out today to celebrate, but sadly it was not to be. It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long, hot damn. ![]() I first published Predation, the first fic to be written in the series (and the start of my chaotic tendency to write out of order) on June 26, 2013. Holy shit y’all I noticed it was coming up the other day and I still can’t believe that Monstrous Intent has been around for a decade now.
